Bayern Munich is ramping up for the start of their big season in August. The champions are expected to come up against some stiff competition, but with a history of successful wins under their belt, it’ll take more than a few tough challengers to scare this team off the field. And with the addition of Douglas Costa for the 2015-2016 season, Bayern is ready to stoke the fires of victory yet again.
The upcoming weeks have Bayern slated to go head-to-head with some of the greatest teams in the sport. The Spanish, Italian, and Chinese teams make up the obstacles standing between Bayern and another championship. Though the first series of games didn’t go as planned with a 2-1 loss to Augsburg, the defending champions are confident they will return with a vengeance and take back their rightful place when the competitive season starts.
Though their first game may have been a disappointment, everything wasn’t all doom and gloom for Bayern Munich. Newcomer Costa showed promise on the field, pushing for the initiative and energetically taking the field. A background talent for many years, Bayern’s decision to acquire this new player came on the heels of his impressive performance at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Not all defeats need be viewed so negatively. After their game, several glaring holes in their strategies have been noted. Bayern’s defense was lacking skilled players to keep the team out of their goal zone, but thankfully these pre-season games are made specifically for this reason. Teams are able to test lineups, measure new recruits, and attempt unique plays in a relatively safe environment without risking their shot at the cup.
Though their opening game may not be what they were hoping for, Bayern has more than enough time to improve their play before crunch time. With newcomer Costa hungry to prove himself, and the time-tested skills of Bayern Munich looking to take the cup for another year, this season will be one for the record books.
